An unidentified pedestrian died after being hit by three separate vehicles on Gallatin Pike North in Nashville early Wednesday morning. The crash occurred near the 1700 block of the road at approximately 1:40 a.m., according to Metro Nashville Police.

The man was pushing a grocery cart as he crossed the roadway when a southbound Dodge Ram pickup truck struck the cart near a traffic light. The impact caused him to fall into the street. A 41-year-old man driving the Dodge pulled into a nearby parking lot and called 911. Police reported that the driver showed no signs of impairment.

After the initial collision, a red sedan and a motorcycle ran over the pedestrian. Neither of those drivers stopped or stayed at the scene. The victim carried no identification, and the Medical Examiner’s Office is currently working to identify him.

Conditions at the time included light rain or drizzle. Police noted that the intersection lacked pedestrian traffic-control devices or painted crosswalks.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the red sedan or the motorcycle rider to contact the MNPD Traffic Division at 615-862-7738.
