A judge set a $2.5 million cash-only bond for a 63-year-old Fishers man accused of using artificial intelligence to alter photos of young people, making them appear nude in what was originally clothed imagery.

The first key point is the charge count. Hamilton Circuit Court formally charged Charles Coriaty with 20 low-level felony counts on Wednesday. These include 10 counts of child exploitation, seven counts of possession of child pornography, and three counts of possession of child sex abuse material. He was previously preliminarily charged on Monday.

The second key point is the digital origin of the evidence. The Hamilton County Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began its investigation after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a CyberTip from the photo hosting platform SmugMug. That tip included approximately 175 images, many of which were modified with an AI application. Detectives later executed a warrant on Coriaty’s SmugMug account and found additional child sexual abuse material.

The third key point is the physical search of the defendant’s residence. Warranted searches of Coriaty’s home uncovered more images stored in computer folders. The task force identified folder names such as “Teen Models,” “Braces,” and “School Portraits.” Coriaty remains in custody at the Hamilton County jail in Noblesville while the case proceeds.

The task force operates out of the Fishers Police Department. It coordinates investigations across Hamilton, Hancock, Madison, and Tipton counties. The group includes detectives from the Fishers, Carmel, Westfield, Noblesville, Greenfield, and Anderson police departments, along with the Hamilton and Madison county sheriff’s offices and U.S. Homeland Security.
