At least six people died and dozens were wounded in a series of gunfights that took place across six U.S. cities over the Halloween weekend.

Police in Dallas, Fayetteville, Arkansas, Birmingham, Alabama, Newark, Delaware, and Bloomington, Illinois, reported incidents in their nightlife districts. Two separate shootings at Spirit Halloween stores in California and Michigan occurred on Friday, adding to the weekend toll.

The Dallas Police Department reported four deaths and 15 injuries in the Deep Ellum neighborhood. This district serves as a hub for music, dining, and nightlife. Chief Daniel Comeaux stated that investigators are determining if the Saturday night incidents were connected. The shootings occurred over a period of approximately one hour and 15 minutes.

Comeaux said three distinct shootings were recorded, though causes remain unknown. The department made several arrests but did not specify the number of suspects or the charges filed. "It's a very complex situation. It has spread over several areas," Comeaux said. "We are interviewing some of the people we have arrested and are still trying to determine their connection to the other shootings in the area."

Police increased their presence in the district before the shootings began. No officers were injured in the incidents.

In Birmingham, one person died and eight others were wounded Saturday night outside Legion Field. The shooting occurred after the annual Magic City Classic football game between Alabama State and Alabama A&M. Chief Michael Pickett noted that most spectators had already left the stadium. The shooting took place near vendors on Graymont Avenue. Pickett said he was "very grateful that no more people were hurt."

Spokesman De'Rell Freeman said one person was detained for questioning and that officers seized multiple weapons. Nearly 70,000 fans attended the game, which Alabama A&M won 31-28.

In Newark, Delaware, six people were shot Saturday night near the University of Delaware campus. They were transported to hospitals for treatment. Police closed a section of the city's main street for several hours. In Bloomington, Illinois, a 19-year-old woman died and another was in critical condition in a shooting near the Illinois Wesleyan University campus.

Two shootings occurred in Arkansas. One man died near a shopping center southwest of Little Rock, and several others were wounded. In Fayetteville, six people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. Police said a preliminary investigation indicates an altercation preceded the shooting.

In Fairfield, California, a 31-year-old pregnant woman died in a targeted shooting at a Spirit Halloween store. Six others were wounded. In Madison Heights, Michigan, a 21-year-old man was killed at a Spirit Halloween store on Friday afternoon.
