Andrew Novak captured the Mexico Open on Sunday at Vidanta Vallarta, claiming his first individual title on the PGA Tour.

Novak finished with a five-shot victory after shooting a 2-under 69 in the final round.

He held a six-shot lead entering the final day but saw that advantage shrink to three shots over Steven Fisk and Kristoffer Ventura after a bogey on the 10th hole.

Novak recovered on the back nine to secure the win. He hit a greenside bunker shot to four feet on the par-5 12th hole.

He followed that with a two-putt birdie on the 13th after driving to within 15 feet of the green.

He capped his run with a 45-foot birdie putt on the 14th hole.

"That kind of really settled everything," Novak said. "Just happy with how I played today. I thought I grinded it out pretty well."

Kristoffer Ventura, a Mexico-born Norwegian, finished as runner-up with a 63. The result moved him from 108th to 76th in the FedEx Cup Fall standings.

This position guarantees him a full playing card for the 2027 season.

Mackenzie Hughes of Canada shot a 66 to tie for fourth place with Ben Griffin.

Hughes improved his FedEx Cup standing to 101st, a position that keeps him competitive with three tournaments remaining.

"Gives me a bit of momentum for the last three," Hughes said. "Obviously, I still know I need more points and I need to keep climbing, but today was a big step in the right direction." "Novak moved from 89th to 53rd in the FedEx Cup standings with the win. This secures his entry into the $20 million signature events at Pebble Beach and Riviera next year. The victory also ensures he will start the 2028 season on the upper Championship Series. Kihei Akina, a 20-year-old sophomore at BYU, closed with a 59 to finish 15th, marking his third top-20 finish on the tour this year.
