Ten lottery selections from the 2026 NBA Draft have already altered the trajectory of their respective franchises during the first two weeks of the 2026-27 season. The group, which included several former college standouts, is performing at a level that suggests it may rival the best freshman cohorts in league history. Early statistics and on-court impact indicate these players are meeting or exceeding professional expectations.

AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 overall pick, made his debut for the Washington Wizards against the Cleveland Cavaliers last week. He had missed the first four games of the season due to an ankle injury. Despite being placed on a minutes restriction, Dybantsa scored 19 points in his first appearance. He has attempted nine free throws in his first two games, a skill he developed at BYU where he ranked first in the nation with 296 free throw attempts last season.

Cameron Boozer of the Memphis Grizzlies is the central figure in the Rookie of the Year conversation. The Grizzlies remain the only team in the NBA without a loss. Boozer recorded his first career triple-double with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists, followed by a career-high 27 points against Sacramento. His career record stands at 155 wins and 17 losses across high school, Duke, Team USA, and the NBA. Synergy data shows he is shooting 42.4% at the rim, an area of concern for his efficiency.

Yaxel Lendeborg has emerged as the second-best player on the Golden State Warriors behind Steph Curry. He scored a career-high 37 points in a win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Lendeborg has averaged at least 25 points in three consecutive games, including a 31-point and 12-rebound performance against the Denver Nuggets. His consistent scoring places him as a co-favorite for Rookie of the Year alongside Boozer.

The rest of the lottery class shows mixed but promising results. Darius Acuff Jr. of the Sacramento Kings recorded 34 points and 14 assists against the Pelicans, joining LeBron James as the only teenagers in NBA history to post at least 30 points and 12 assists in a game. Caleb Wilson of the Chicago Bulls averages 3.2 steals and blocks per game while shooting 29.8% from three-point range. AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, and Mikel Brown Jr. are currently on minutes restrictions or playing limited roles as their teams manage their development.

Other lottery picks are finding their footing in secondary roles. Keaton Wagler of the Los Angeles Clippers is shooting 31.3% from three-point range, a higher percentage than his 24% from two-point range. Morez Johnson Jr. of the Dallas Mavericks is serving as a defensive specialist who can guard positions one through five. Aday Mara of the Oklahoma City Thunder is playing increased minutes due to an injury to Chet Holmgren, logging seven points, nine rebounds, and four blocks in a game against the Houston Rockets.

The early grades reflect a class that is hitting the ground running. While some players like Hannes Steinbach of the Charlotte Hornets have played limited garbage time minutes, the core group is already influencing game outcomes. The statistical output from the top five picks suggests that the 2026 draft class will be a defining talent group for the next decade of the league.

Teams are adjusting their rosters around these young talents. The Wizards, Grizzlies, Warriors, and Kings are all building their lineups to maximize the potential of their top lottery selections. As the season progresses, the minutes restrictions on players like Dybantsa and Brown will likely be lifted, providing a larger sample size for their performance. The current trend indicates that this rookie class is ready for the professional level.
