Netflix will release the film Heartland and its accompanying soundtrack on the same day, November 13. The project features original music from established country artists and cast members.
Carter Faith released her single “Still the Sparrow Sings” as a preview. She wrote and performed the track for the movie. A video of the performance was filmed at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.
Faith also makes her acting debut in the film. She plays Charlie Heart, a rising singer who disappears from Nashville. Jessica Chastain stars as Charlie’s aunt, Misty Jones. The character is a reclusive country legend who returns to the city to find her missing niece.
Shana Feste directs the film. Her previous credits include Country Strong. Jennifer Nettles appears as Winnie Jo Lean, another singer in the story. Nettles and Chastain perform the title song together.
The soundtrack combines contributions from Carly Pearce and Margo Price with performances by the cast. The release connects the fictional music world depicted on screen with real artists. The film and album both arrive on streaming platforms on November 13.
