Mckenna Grace has established clear boundaries for her acting career.

The star of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping stated in a Tuesday interview with Cosmopolitan that she intentionally avoids roles requiring nudity or hypersexual content. Grace explained that while she respects actors who take on such parts, the prospect is terrifying to her. She noted that she is unsure if this preference will ever change.

Grace clarified that her approach does not limit her to safe or wholesome material. She pointed to her role in Scream, where her character is killed by the killer Ghostface, to demonstrate her willingness to act in the horror genre. Her long-term professional goal, however, remains distinct. She expressed a dream of becoming a Disney princess someday.

The actress is set to play Maysilee Donner, a tribute from District 12, in the new Hunger Games film. The movie is scheduled to open in theaters on November 20. Grace described herself as a longtime member of the fandom for the franchise. She told the interviewer that she was deeply invested in the headcanons and fan base long before she was cast.

She recounted owning a large poster of the series and purchasing a bow and arrow to emulate the character of Katniss Everdeen. Upon arriving at the set, she shared this history with director Francis Lawrence. She told him that having watched the films and read the books repeatedly, the experience of running toward the Cornucopia felt surreal to her.

The film adapts the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. The story takes place nearly 25 years before the original saga. It begins on the morning of the 50th annual Hunger Games, an event known as the Second Quarter Quell. Joseph Zada portrays a young Haymitch Abernathy in the lead role. The narrative follows his path to victory, which eventually positions him to mentor Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark.

The production revisits the world of Panem from a historical perspective. It details the specific events that shaped the mentors and legends of the later books. Grace's casting places her within a timeline that predates the main character's rise to fame.
