Mckenna Grace stated she intentionally avoids acting roles that require nudity because she aims to secure a part as a Disney princess in the future. The announcement came in an interview with Cosmopolitan released on Tuesday, November 3.
The actress, who plays District 12 tribute Maysilee Donner in the upcoming Hunger Games film, said she does not take on hypersexual roles. Grace told the publication that while she respects other actors who accept such parts, the idea terrifies her. She expressed uncertainty about whether that feeling will change in her career.
Grace clarified that her preference for limited exposure does not mean she only chooses wholesome characters. She noted that her character in the recent Scream film gets killed by Ghostface. However, she maintains that her long-term goal is to land a role in a Disney production.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping opens in theaters on November 20. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. It is set almost 25 years before the events of the original book and film series.
The story follows the 50th annual Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. In the narrative, Haymitch Abernathy is chosen to compete in the deadly arena. He eventually wins the games and later becomes the mentor for Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark.
Joseph Zada stars as a young Haymitch in the movie. Grace described her personal history with the franchise as a long-time fan. She said she had a large Hunger Games poster in her room and bought a bow and arrows to emulate Katniss Everdeen.
Grace told director Francis Lawrence upon arriving on set that she had watched the movies and read the books many times. She described the experience of running from her podium toward the cornucopia as feeling unreal to her.
