Samsung is set to release the Galaxy W27 in China on October 29, according to a leak from Ice Universe. The device will be available exclusively in the Chinese market, continuing a yearly tradition for the company.
The leaker shared an image of the smartphone showing a glossy blue back panel. Gold accents surround the triple-camera array. This color scheme distinguishes the W27 from standard global models of Samsung's foldable lineup.
The W27 is built on the hardware of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Specifications for the new device match the top-tier Ultra model released this year. The physical design also aligns with the Ultra variant rather than the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8.
Samsung typically rebrands its top foldable as the Galaxy W series for China. These editions often feature elaborate packaging and special styling. In 2024, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition saw a broader release, but that instance served as a precursor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
The choice of the Ultra base model stands out for the 2026 cycle. The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 features a new shape that is gaining popularity. However, the W27 retains the wider format associated with the Ultra series. This form factor is increasingly common among Chinese competitors like Huawei and Xiaomi.
Market analysts predict a 44% increase in foldable display shipments in 2026. This growth is driven by the arrival of wide-format devices. Samsung has also noted that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is performing well, with attention heightened by the recent launch of the iPhone Duo.
If the leaked date holds, the W27 will be the final foldable Samsung releases this year. The company has several new foldable models planned for next year. The W27 launch will occur six days after the initial report of the leak.
