Stylus support and fast charging require extra hardware purchases that are not included in the standard box.

Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is now on sale, but core features require additional purchases. Tech site 9to5Mac identified a list of accessories that early buyers need to unlock the device’s full capabilities. The total cost for these essential items can reach $249.
The most notable gap is stylus support. Apple Pencil integration allows users to write and sketch on both the inner and outer displays. The feature arrives next week with the iOS 27.2 update. Only the Apple Pencil with a USB-C connector is compatible. The device is currently listed for $69, a $10 discount from its original price.
Fast charging is another area where buyers must spend extra. The iPhone Duo can reach 50 percent battery in approximately 20 minutes, but only with a specific power adapter. The standard box includes a USB-C cable but no charger. While a 20W adapter may suffice for some, the site suggests Apple’s 40W Dynamic Power Adapter for $34 or an Anker 100W charger for $29 to achieve the fastest speeds.
For drivers, the recommendation is the ESR MagSafe Car Mount. This accessory clips to an air vent and holds the phone magnetically. It is priced at $19, reduced from $29. The setup pairs with CarPlay to display navigation data on the vehicle's screen while the phone shows detailed maps.
Protection options range from third-party cases to Apple’s proprietary designs. The SPIDERCASE Magnetic Case costs $29 and includes a stand. The Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro is available for $39. Apple sells its own Folio with Kickstand for $129 and a standard case for $79.
The iPhone Duo also updates StandBy mode to function without charging. This allows users to monitor smart home devices while the phone is upright. The site suggests the Aqara G100 2K camera at $39 or a eufy 4K camera at $69 for those using Home Camera or Home Modular views. These two cameras total $108 if a buyer needs both.
A separate recommendation is the AirPods Pro 3, currently on sale for $199. This price is $50 lower than the standard retail cost. The article notes that these earbuds are suitable for users who do not currently own AirPods or are using older models.
