Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, opens its latest theatre production on November 6. The school will stage 'Waitress: High School Version' through November 15. The show carries a PG-13 rating. Keith Kaiser, a member of the cast and crew, met with reporters on Tuesday morning prior to the opening night. He was preparing for the final performance week.

The Floyd Central Theatre Arts program holds a distinct position in American high school theatre. It is widely recognized as one of the premier programs in the United States. This reputation has led to consistent invitations to state and national showcases. The program has also earned the trust of industry partners to pilot musicals. 'Waitress: High School Version' represents one such early test production.

The musical draws its plot from the motion picture of the same name. The songs and lyrics were composed by Sara Bareilles. The story centers on Jenna Hunterson, a waitress and skilled pie maker. She resides in a small Indiana town and is trapped in a marriage she finds unfulfilling. A baking contest in a nearby county offers her a potential way out. Jenna seeks to recover a part of herself she has long ignored.

Her journey relies on the support of her coworkers and an unexpected romance. These relationships help her find the courage to pursue a dream she had abandoned. The production explores themes of personal ambition, chosen family, and the comfort of baking. The run begins on November 6 and concludes on November 15 at the Floyd Central High School theatre.
