The San Juan Mountains currently face persistent heavy rainfall, flooding risks, and mudslide threats. A new weather system is set to alter conditions across the rest of the state this weekend.

The weather pattern has shifted over the past few days. On Thursday evening, scattered showers affected the Pikes Peak Region, Pueblo County, and the eastern plains. Overnight lows in those areas settled in the 40s and 50s. Farther west, conditions remained hazardous. Flood watches, severe thunderstorm watches, and flood warnings remained active in the southwestern corner of the state.

Friday brings warmer than average temperatures before the front arrives. Colorado Springs is expected to reach a high of 73 after a low of 51. Pueblo will see a high of 81 after a low of 55. Canon City is forecast to hit 75 after a low of 54. Woodland Park will remain above seasonal averages with a high of 56 after a low of 43. The plains are expected to reach a high of 83 after a low of 60. In the mountains, temperatures are expected to reach a high of 59 after a low of 41. Showers are possible throughout the day in most locations, with a brief lull in moisture in some areas.

A cold front is scheduled to cross Colorado early Saturday. This event will lower temperatures by 10 to 15 degrees, pushing them below average. Tropical moisture will shift east, delivering additional precipitation to the region. Total accumulations across the area could range from 0.10 inches to 0.75 inches. Winds will strengthen Friday and through the weekend. Gusts of 40 to 45 mph are expected across the region.

Snow levels are likely to drop once the cold front passes. The weekend may bring cold rain and possibly some snow. The extended outlook indicates that next week will dry out. Temperatures are expected to return to more seasonal levels.
