A cold front is crossing Colorado on Friday, Oct. 23.

Pueblo's forecast lists a high of 80 degrees and a low of 52, with rain chances rising through the weekend. Morning readings were expected in the 50s before cloud breaks allowed additional sunshine and afternoon warming. On Pueblo's south side, the chance of rain Friday sits at 10% to 20%, ahead of a larger increase in rain chances over the weekend. Along Interstate 25, sunshine was expected to emerge around 10 a.m. as morning clouds cleared. The front, moving from the west, could support thunderstorms farther east and a few storms along the southern portion of the interstate.

The front's arrival follows a stretch of warmth across the region. Friday offers the last hours of that warmth before temperatures fall. As the system moves through Friday and into Saturday morning, readings will drop, with Saturday's high reaching only the 50s. Across much of the area, the pattern marks the end of recent warm conditions.

Forecasts for surrounding cities: Colorado Springs lists a high of 73 and a low of 47. Canon City shows a high of 75 and a low of 49, with a 20% to 30% chance of rain and possible afternoon showers. Woodland Park is set for a high of 58 and a low of 39, with sunshine earlier in the day followed by afternoon clouds and weekend rain chances. Monument and the Tri-Lakes area show a high of 69 and a low of 43, with Saturday highs in the 50s. Walsenburg and Trinidad are expected to reach 73 and 74, respectively, with lows of 49.

Along the eastern plains, thunderstorms could return by Friday evening after a sunnier start, with afternoon temperatures in the 70s and 80s and lows in the 50s. The mountains show forecast highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. In southwestern Colorado, lingering moisture and flooding remain concerns, where water levels may take time to recede.

Conditions are expected to calm next week, with sunshine, some partly cloudy skies and temperatures gradually warming into the 60s. The preliminary Halloween outlook lists temperatures in the 50s and 60s with dry weather, though that forecast could change.

The eastern plains could see thunderstorms return by Friday evening after a sunnier start, with afternoon temperatures in the 70s and 80s and lows in the 50s. In the mountains, forecast highs are in the 60s and lows in the 30s.
