The Chicago Bears acquired defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans on Thursday in a trade that sends two first-round picks to Nashville.
The exchange involves the Bears giving up their 2027 and 2028 first-round selections along with a 2027 fourth-round pick. In return, Chicago receives Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round pick, according to team confirmation.
Simmons, 29, was a First Team All-Pro selection last season. He signed a three-year contract extension in July worth a reported $105.8 million, which keeps him under contract through 2030. In the current season, he has recorded four sacks in seven games while playing for a Titans team that holds a 1-6 record.
Tennessee general manager Mike Borgonzi decided to move the 2019 first-round pick to accumulate future draft capital. For the Bears, general manager Ryan Poles views the move as a step toward a Super Bowl run. Chicago is 5-2 in its second season under head coach Ben Johnson, with quarterback Caleb Williams continuing to develop.
The Bears' defense has improved after a slow start. Unit is currently eighth in yards allowed and ranks third against the run. Simmons had career-highs in 2025 with 11 sacks and three forced fumbles in 15 games.
If eligible, Simmons would face another recently traded player in Week 8. The Bears travel to Seattle for a Monday Night Football game against the Seahawks, who acquired guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday.
