Elon Musk’s personal political committee, America PAC, deposited more than $76 million into its account during the first two weeks of October. The funds are earmarked for the final push of the midterm campaign, with the Texas Senate race absorbing the majority of the new spending. A pre-election report filed with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday evening confirmed the figures.

The timeline of the funding surge began in July. Since that month, America PAC has received more than $165 million from Musk. This brings his total contributions to Republican political groups this cycle to over $445 million, making him the largest known individual donor in the midterms. The committee declined to comment on the new filings.

The PAC spent nearly $43 million in the first half of October. It enters the final stretch of the campaign with almost $47 million in cash on hand. Most of the new spending targeted the Texas contest, where the group invested $15.2 million. That amount is twice what the PAC spent in the state over the entire summer.

Of the Texas spending, $12.4 million went to attacks on Democratic candidate James Talarico. Another $2.8 million promoted Republican Ken Paxton. Daily filings submitted after the initial report show an additional $9.1 million directed against Talarico. This brings the PAC’s total spending against the Democrat this cycle to nearly $28 million, which is roughly 40 percent of its total candidate support costs.

The group has also shifted toward digital advertising. It spent $11.4 million on online ads in the two-week window, a figure close to what it spent on mail and texting combined. The shift mirrors Musk’s own online activity. On Wednesday, he wrote on X that Talarico is a creep and claimed the candidate would vote to take away voters' children. He also amplified a false claim earlier this month that Talarico had been treated at a mental health facility.

Talarico responded on the same day. He said there is something deeply wrong with a political system that allows one trillionaire to buy his own personal U.S. Senator. An Emerson College poll of 1,000 likely Texas voters conducted October 17 to 19 shows the race is a toss-up. Talarico leads Paxton by two points, within the three-point margin of error.

The stakes extend beyond the statehouse. If Democrats win the House, committee chairs have signaled they will investigate Musk’s role in the Department of Government Efficiency and his federal contracts. Representatives Sam Liccardo, Jimmy Panetta, and Ro Khanna wrote to the White House demanding an investigation into SpaceX’s Starshield service in Ukraine. They stated the next Congress will closely scrutinize federal funding awarded to Musk's businesses.
