Hispanic voters in Mecklenburg County have already surpassed the total turnout recorded for the entire 2022 midterm election cycle. State voting data released through Oct. 31 shows that 16,137 Hispanic residents cast ballots during the current early voting period. This figure exceeds the 11,141 Hispanic voters who participated in the 2022 midterms, a milestone reached with Election Day still weeks away.

The surge represents a distinct shift in participation patterns for the county. Hispanic voters now account for approximately 5.4% of the 299,003 total ballots cast during this early voting window. The demographic breakdown reveals that women constitute the majority of this group, comprising about 60% of the ballots. Younger voters also drove much of the increase, with more than 9,000 Hispanic participants between the ages of 18 and 40. This age bracket makes up roughly 56% of the total Hispanic vote, including 4,323 voters aged 18 to 25 and 4,722 voters aged 26 to 40.

Partisan affiliation data indicates where the voting power lies. Registered Democrats cast 8,407 ballots within the Hispanic demographic. Another 6,404 voters were unaffiliated, while registered Republicans accounted for 1,249 ballots. The numbers suggest a strong showing for Democrats, who are seeking to recapture Hispanic voters who leaned toward Republicans during the 2024 presidential election. Party strategists are watching this early surge as a potential indicator of performance on Tuesday.

The data reflects the composition of the electorate as of the end of October. The 16,137 total remains the benchmark against which future turnout will be measured. With the election date approaching, the early voting figures provide a concrete baseline for the 2026 midterm cycle in Mecklenburg County.
