Anthony Lloyd forced his way out of a medical facility in Lewisham shortly after 4:00 pm on Friday, triggering a manhunt that now covers London and six other counties. The Metropolitan Police have widened the search area to include Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside, where officers believe Lloyd may have personal connections.

Lloyd is 38 years old and was convicted in 2025 of causing actual bodily harm. The offense involved three emergency services workers in Nottinghamshire. He received a 12-month custodial sentence and was transferred from prison to the Lewisham health unit in September. Police stated that he was last seen at approximately 4:10 pm on Friday, heading in the direction of Catford.

Detective Superintendent Melanie Pressley, who leads the investigation, described the prisoner as white, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build and short dark hair. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers. Pressley noted that officers are conducting various inquiries to locate Lloyd and return him to custody.

The Metropolitan Police have advised the public to avoid approaching the fugitive. Pressley stated that Lloyd poses a risk to both himself and the public. She urged anyone who spots him to call 999 immediately rather than engaging with him directly. The force has also appealed for information from residents, asking that any details, however minor, be reported to police as a matter of urgency.

Police have issued a reference number for those with information to quote when calling. The reference is CAD4739/23Oct. Officers remain active across the capital and the identified external regions as they work to confirm Lloyd's whereabouts.
